Smart Builders Goes Green With DECONSTRUCTION

What is Deconstruction?

Deconstruction is an environmentally-friendly alternative to full demolition of a home or building. Trained deconstruction crews carefully deconstruct the building to salvage as many of the reusable materials as possible, diverting them from local landfills. Salvaged materials may include doors, windows, cabinets, lighting, plumbing fixtures, framing lumber, roofing materials, and flooring. Salvaged materials are then delivered to local non-profit building centers and warehouses across the country. They are then either sold to the general public, shipped to low income markets in foreign counties, or donated to other non-profit agencies.

What are the Benefits of Deconstruction

  • Green Consciousness – recycling instead of sending more construction debris to the landfill!
  • Reducing the amount of natural resources consumed.
  • Maintaining a supply of used building materials increases the standard of living in many communities.
  • Less pollution is generated.
  • Less energy and less water is used, reducing the overall cost to our clients and helping the environment.

How Does the Building Owner Benefit?

A tax deduction is available for salvaged building materials donated to non-profit organizations. The materials salvaged also reduce the owners cost of disposal, and the tax benefit reduces the overall cost.
